We received total of $4,328.96 an 109.11% increased from December, 2020 from 22 companies.   Out of $4,328.96 received, $2,702.79 is in CAD and $1,626.17 is in US dollar or 62 to 38 split.  For simplicity of this calculation, we are using 1:1 rate for the currency approach.  Year to Date, we have received total of $25,594.15 in Dividend Income.  This is 117% more than the dividends we received for the year 2020.  Please check the Dividend Income 2021 for details.  Our goal for 2021 was $20,000 dividend income.  We exceeded our goal by 25.00%.

In December, 2021 we received $139.64 daily dividend income for 31 days in December.

By the end of 2020, our Projected Annual Dividend Income (PADI) was $15,863. Our Projected Annual Dividend Income (PADI) was $38,063 by the end of 2021.  We are going to project $45,000 in the Project Annual Dividend Income for the year 2022

My top 3 dividends for December were ENB, BST and BSTZ.  They were combined for total of $2,332.73 or 54% of the dividend income this month.  This was the first month that we received over $1,000 from 1 stock.  We received $1,169.00 dividend income from ENB. Also, we received special dividend income from BST, BSTZ and FN.  Ideally, we wanted the top 3 companies of our monthly dividend no greater than 50% of the monthly dividend income because we wanted to  minimize the risk of dividend cut.  Therefore, we will add more money to Manulife Financial (MFC) , Broadcom (AVGO) and Fortis (FTS) or other dividend stocks to diversity our income.

Options Income

ball, round, globe

Selling covered calls  is perhaps the best options strategy for extra income while waiting for the stock to grow.  While selling put option is strategy for extra income designed to buy stocks at a lower cost.

For our growth stocks in my portfolio, we decided to enhance my passive income with selling covered call/put options.  However, we didn’t see any good option calls for the month of Dec 2021.

    1. Hi Rob, I sold CNR because I wanted to move CNR from my RRSP account over to my taxable account. In my RRSP, i like to have mostly US stocks. I am slowly adding back in my taxable account. I sold JNJ because I wanted to consolidate my portfolio so I could drip my shares. JNJ was a small portion of my portfolio, so I sold it to buy something else. I still like JNJ though, I will buy when I have more cash build up.
