Hello everyone! Welcome to My Dividend Snowball, a blog about income investing. June has passed and the weather is getting warmer here in Mississauga. Stores, Malls and Restaurants are starting to re-open again. You can see long line up at the partios, stores and super market. However, the number of people infecting with Covid-19 is still up in province, so my company is still allowing me to work from home. My daily exercise is walking 10,000 steps/day since the start of pandemic. In June, the weather was good, so I was able to walk 10,000 steps everyday.
For the month of June, 2020, for the first time, I have received over $1000/month of dividend income. The following companies have paid me:
- AVGO $32.00
- BEP-UN.TO $121.17 dripped 1 share
- BIP-UN.TO $60.18 dripped 1 share
- BIPC.TO $1.98
- BPY-UN.TO $193.82 dripped 14 shares
- CNR.TO $57.50
- ENB.TO $247.05 dripped 4 shares
- FTS.TO $72.58 dripped 1 share
- JNJ $16.16
- LYB $60.9
- MAIN $30.96
- MCD $18.75
- MFC.TO $73.64 dripped 3 shares
- MMM $29.4
- O $17.48
- PEP $20.45
- V $8.7
I have received total of $1086.17, an 173% increase from June, 2019. This is big increase from 2019 because of the pandemic, I am taking advantage of the sell-off. I have deployed lots of cash in March and April of 2020. Out of $1086.17 received, $879.15 is in CAD and $207.02 is in US dollar or 80 to 20 split. For simplicity of this calculation, I am using 1:1 rate for the currency approach.
Dividend Growth
June is a slow month for dividend increase. Only one company announced dividend increase.
- New Residential Investment NZL increased its dividend payout by 100% to .40 annually from .20. Since I owed 304 shares, this increase will add $60.8 to my annual income. However, before the pandemic, this company used to pay $2.0 per share; therefore I am still down %80 of income received from this company.
Stock Transactions
The following stocks have been added to our portfolio in June:
- Added 425 shares of Enbridge ENB.TO, added $1377 to annually income.
- Added 100 shares of Bank of Montreal BMO.TO
- Added 300 shares of Telus T.TO
- Added 300 shares of Algonquin Power & Utilities AQN.TO
- Added 6 shares of Johnson & Johnson JNJ, added 24.24 to annually income.
- Added 14 shares of Vanguard S&P 500 Index ETF, added $17.91 to annually income.
- Added 33 shares of Kirkland Lake Gold KL.TO, added $27.16 to annually income.
- Added 3 shares of Avago AVGO, added $36 to annually income.
- Added 2 shares of Shopify SHOP.TO.
- Added 11 shares of Visa V, added $13.2 to annually income.
- Added 5 shares of McDonald MCD, added $25 to annually income.
- Added 18 shares of Brookfield Infrastructure Partner BIP-UN.TO, added $47.40 to annually income.
- Added 22 shares of Royal Bank of Canada, RY.TO, added $95.04 to annually income.
- Added 17 shares of TC Energy Corp. TRP.TO, added $55.08 to annually income.
- Sold 300 shares of Arbor Realty Trust ABR, $360 removed from annually income.
I have deployed total of $51379 in the month of June to get $2753 annually income that calculated as 5.4% yield. I sold ABR because I needed money to deploy in Visa and Avago. I wanted to increase shares in these 2 stocks, so they could be in my core holdings. I lost $360 income, but I think Visa and Avago would do better in the long term.
Summary
June 2020 was an exciting month. I was able to collect over $1100 of dividend income which was a milestone for me. New additions this month caused the imbalance in my portfolio. Enbridge is now more than 10% of my entire portfolio; therefore in the next few months, I will concentrate buying stocks in different sectors other than Financial and Energy. I will buy more shares of these companies: JNJ, MMM, PEP, SBUX, MCD, V, AAPL, AVGO and MSFT. One stock I would continue to buy even though it does not pay dividend is Shopify. I would continue buy 1 share of Shopify per month until I reach a reasonable number of shares in my portfolio. By the way, I am ok with the new transactions for this month.
How was your June? Keep safe and keep investing everyone!!!
